I've been having a lot of trouble with nailing the tone for Runic. I have most of a plot outline, but it's difficult to start it in a satisfying way when I come up with a new way to paint Geneviah's character or realize that I've portrayed Sae's isolative tendencies masquerading as standoffishness.
Fanfiction, as a concept, rides on the reader having a pre-existing idea of how the characters are supposed to act. Due to this, I can use it to nail the characterization and narrative voice of my characters in an environment that doesn't affect the main story.
I probably wouldn't recommend you read this unless you're curious. I'm not really trying to go for good grammar or word choice beyond what works in a narrative voice/characterization format. Still, if you do, thanks.
